Therapeutic Approach

I believe in the healing power of a relationship that is nonjudgmental, affirming, and validating. As your therapist, I will offer a space create this relationship with you.  We will discuss your thoughts, feelings, and emotions to build upon your strengths and foster growth. I am informed by Compassion Focused Therapy, CBT, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. With this background, I will focus on treating the psychological and contextual factors in your life that are contributing to the presenting issue.

Background

I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Walla Walla University. In my education, I took courses on CBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, and DBT. I took additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy outside of my education. Prior to my graduate degree, I received a Bachelor's in Philosophy from Cal Poly Pomona in which I focused on Virtue Ethics. I have worked with clients in several settings including residential treatment centers for adolescents, home and school support services for youth and families, and doing intakes for a hospital group therapy program. These experiences and education have uniquely informed my approach to providing therapeutic services for others. Outside of work, I enjoy taking my dogs out on walks through the woods, taking a bicycle ride to the local coffee shop, and cheering on the Timbers.
